When brightness, size, and cost matter, the Proton Pro is the best choice in single AA flashlights. The Proton Pro is designed to perform in extreme conditions, heavy rain, sub-zero temperatures, or anything else Mother Nature has to offer…This Powerful flashlight produces over 1,000 candle power from a single white LED. Proton Pro is made from aircraft quality aluminum with type III anodizing, o-ring seals, and a hardened glass lens. This ensures that the Proton Pro flashlight is ready for your next adventure. The Proton Pro is equipped with Freedom Circuitry. Which provides variable brightness, 3 signaling modes, and automatic SOS mode in both red and white beams. All of these features operate easily from a single button. Measuring only 4.25” in length and weighing only 1.6 ounces, Proton Pro is lightweight and easy to carry. With a lanyard swivel, pocket clip, and custom belt holster, the Proton Pro is an easy to add accessory. Proton Pro also comes standard with an Energizer Lithium AA battery, which is the only type of battery that works in extreme cold conditions. Proton Pro can also use any other type of AA battery, but works especially well with NiMH rechargeable batteries.

Proton Pro5
This is a GREAT light.

I use a flashlight daily in my job. I crawl in attics regularly. I first saw this light in Alaska in a store priced at 50.00. It was a bit steep, but after looking at it several times, I decided to buy it for myself. I like the ability to use a single AA Lithium battery instead of the more expensive and harder to find CR123 batteries. Standard AA batteries are fine in a pinch (caution, only about 2 hours of full power use).

I carry this light daily and I have found no other light like it. It is small enough to cary daily, no matter how lightly you dress. I use the Energizer AA Lithium battery in it. I get about 20 hours of use at full power, I seldom use low power. The red light is helpful going into a tree stand early when deer hunting.

I lost my original and thankfully my children got me one for my birthday. I decided to buy a second one just in case (I expect to locate my original one eventually).

When price, size, battery availability, durability, batery life and brightness are considered there are no peers for this light. Buy with cofidence and enjoy it.

Great Flashlight For The Keychain4
I bought this flashlight because I needed one for everyday carry (EDC). I needed a compact, but powerful, flashlight that used AA batteries. The need for AA eliminated the majority of the keychain-type flashlights while the "powerful" attribute knocked out the incandescent Maglites. They simply don't have the same brightness as a power-regulated LED.

This light is great! It might be considered a little long for a keychain light, but if you wear your keychain on a belt loop, it is no problem at all. It comes with a removable belt clip, which I removed. The only downside to removing the belt clip is that the flashlight will then roll. The belt clip stops the flashlight from rolling.

Okay, onto the part you really care about: POWER! The flashlight is very powerful. It is definitely more powerful than my current Inova keychain light. The controls are much better and way more intuitive than the Fenix lights that I own, too. No tapping the button to make power level changes. The red light is also very easy to activate, by holding down the power button instead of clicking it.

Overall, I was very impressed with this light. In fact, my fiancee ended up putting it on her keychain. In a purse, the extra length doesn't matter. It's no longer than the mascara or lip gloss. I will have to order a second one for myself.

Buy This Light5
If you want to know what can be done at a "reasonable" price & with cheap batteries using the best of LED technology and computerized circuitry, buy this light. If you couldn't care less about any of that stuff, buy it anyway.

For years I packed a big 3 D-cell Mag Light around with me. (In other words, I kept one in the car). The big Mags were great in their time and got the whole high-tech flashlight scene going. Plus they could double - in a pinch - as a very serviceable club (well known in military and law enforcement applications). Before continuing, be aware that the Photon Pro makes a very poor club. There is no comparison to the Mag Lights in this regard.

But the narrow beam of light that this little wonder casts - with one LED and one AA battery - is brighter. And the Photon Pro is tiny enough that you can literally ALWAYS have it with you (on your person).

Also its internal circuitry is quite intelligent. The light's single switch allows you to set either the red or white LED at whatever brightness level you want. Or your can select from four different flash modes, including a disco style strobe or even an SOS signal.

Last but not least, it runs on cheap, buy-anywhere AA batteries (I use a rechargeable Li-On in mine) and makes very intelligent use of the available current. Instead of gradually dimming out on you, like most lights, the Photon Pro stays bright until your battery power is just about exhausted. Then it gives you a red halo or corona around the main white beam, announcing that it is time to swap out the battery.

Starting out with a freshly charged Li-0n I have camped for as long as 5 days without having to change the battery (though I always have spares along). My night vision is pretty good for an old guy and I am not afraid of the dark, (meaning that I do not always burn it at full intensity). Even so, this seems like pretty good battery life.

Like I said - buy this light.
