MAGLITE SP23MRH 3-AA Cell Mini-Maglite LED Flashlight, Universal Camo
One good-one not so good 'For a Maglite flashlight', it gives a pretty decent amount of light. But if you were expecting the digital camo 'color scheme' shown on the Amazon web page, don't count on it. Mine was considerably different in color. Maybe that's why the other purchaser posted his own picture of the flashlight. [Follow-up: 2 weeks later. I liked the flashlight so well that I ordered another one from Amazon for a friend. And was I disappointed! The new one, instead of having a bright, crisp, 'WHITE' LED-type light like mine, it 'cast' a 'yellowish', almost dull (althought still adequately bright), light. I just question their quality control when you get such a variance like this between the two units.]

TerraLUX TLE-ST/XT LED Upgrade Kit or Streamlight, Stinger, Stinger XT Flashlight
From Terralux

TerraLUX LED Upgrade Kit or Streamlight, Stinger, Stinger XT Flashlight is a light where no modification is necessary. It never burns out and never needs replacement and has 220 lumens of bright white LED light that pays for itself in batteries and replacement bulbs.
Amazon Sales Rank: #1823 in Automotive Color: White Brand: TerraLUX Model: TLE-ST/XT

Worked awesome for a week... Everything described by A. Prado happened to me too. The focus on the included lens was never quite perfect. The beam was poorly focused when tightened all the way; Causing me to leave it a bit loose to allow for adjusting. For the one week it worked, it was great. First to go were the soldered circuit board prongs... a quick and easy fix for anyone with a soldering iron. Just one day after I did the self repair, the glass dome over the LED came off... So, I put the old bulb back in and am happy with my yellow tinted, not as bright but operational flashlight. Just $50 poorer... I also purchased the TerraLUX TLE-300 for the Magcharger at the same time. That thing is FREAKING AWESOME! Seems like a quick lens change and it would burn holes on the moon! lol! That bulb is built how this one should have been. Very cheap quality Got the product first day everything was good untill I unscewed the led up grad kit, to show my friend when the led upgrade kit, when magnifier just fell apart. This product way over priced for the quality I'm very unsatisfied with my purchase. I "do not" recommend this product at all. Questionable workmanship I bought this to replace my halogen bulb which seems dim in comparison. However, the quality of this product is terrible. In the course of my duties I use my Stinger everyday and unfortunately this product is not rugged enough to handle heavy duty use. The + and - prongs were the first things to fail as they just simply came undone from the rest of the circuit board and then the clear glass dome which houses the LED was next. The end result was total failure. I attempted to contact the vendor and TeraLUX in an attempt to get it repaired or replaced but I got the runaround from both. I paid about 50 dollars including shipping for this product. I should have just spent another 30 dollars and bought the new streamlite LED. Good concept terrible quality.

SureFire E2D LED Defender Flashlight Max-200 Lumens E2DL-BK
From SureFire

Compact (pocket sized), dual-output LED flashlight designed for self-defense and personal protection. The E2D LED Defender® features a solid-state, two-stage light emitting diode that generates six times the output of a typical two-D-cell flashlight at its high setting and five lumens of useful light (enough to read a map or negotiate a dark path) on low. And should 200 lumens of blinding light not be enough to convince an aggressor to back off, the E2DL's crenellated Strike Bezel® and scalloped tailcap provide two sets of hard-anodized aluminum "teeth" as a last line of defense. Two useful output levels, a long runtime, a hard-anodized durable exterior, compact size, and enhanced personal protection capabilities make this flashlight a great everyday-carry option. Especially for those looking for a self-defense light with a bit more of a bite.

Terrific Light, as usual, from Surefire If you are new to high-powered flashlights, Surefire is the benchmark. This ain't no Maglite. Made in USA, lifetime warranty with incredible customer service, unequaled build quality, and state of the art LED's. This light has two beams. One click gives you a very focused beam with amazing power - 120 Lumens. Click again and the lower powered beam is still plenty strong and will probably be what you use more often. I really recommend the dual stage version of this model. It's great to have a high powered beam when you need it, but walking the dog or searching for something in a tent doesn't need 120 lumens - 5 is fine. Battery life is great. If spending this much money on a flashlight seems absurd, there are other options at your disposal that are just as strong, but are made in China and don't come with the same warranty. These include Fenix - I bought a P30D on Amazon for 65 dollars for a friend. That Fenix light doesn't have the same build quality as my Surefires, but has a similar beam and I would rate light output somewhere between my L5 (100 Lumen) and this E2DL (120 Lumen). I would go with Surefire any day for the peace of mind that if I drop it in a river, it's going to work just fine (waterproof to "33 feet" - at least), and the knowledge that it was made in the States. Also, beware of LUMEN hype. Other manufacturers- such as Fenix- make claims about light output that I have found to be around double of what Surefire rates. So a 220 lumen Fenix P30D seems to my eye to be around a 110 lumen Surefire. I didn't test scientifically but I trust my eyes and it was definitely weaker than this 120 Lumen E2DL. Surefire is extremely conservative about their claims, which is in line with their stellar reputation. Also, make sure whatever flashlight you're buying is equipped with the latest LED's, as technology is changing quickly and an updated light may have significantly better battery life than previous LED models. Call or e-mail Surefire and ask- they will be straight with you. As of January '09, this particular light has the latest CREE LED and is definitely state of the art. Also sorry Amazon, but Batteryjunction.com ships Surefires for free with a bunch of free extra batteries. Enjoy! Awesome LED illumination This has become my second Surefire flashlight in 13 years. Ironically, Surefire seems to make such a dependable, durable, and well-designed piece of equipment that I can not be the frequent customer I should be. Prior to this I owned a 9N flashlight, but the bulb assembly finally broke and can not be replaced. Enter the E2D LED. I was first impressed with the smallness of this flashlight. It fits very nicely into my hand, and equally so in a pocket. It feels very light. The double-tap activation switch works well, and I believe it to be a great bit of practical design. I do not miss the "twist" type of activation switch from my previous Surefire. Switching from High to Low power on the E2D LED does take a bit of practice, but once you get your timing down, it's not a consideration. The full-power brightness of this light is awe-inspiring. I still feel almost blinded when initially firing this light up. I sometimes squint to overcome it. Seriously. The lower lumen setting is more than adequate for most night-work, but I can see the effect of shining the full-power light into someone's eyes. The light cast by this flashlight is smooth, even, and far-reaching. The ruggedness of the flashlight is good. The lens is well protected and sturdy, and the light has yet to fail due to mechanical defect. I've had it for roughly 6 months now, and it has become an almost daily-use tool. Incidentally, I am still on the first set of batteries. My only gripe with the flashlight is that the tail-cap prevents "flat-thumbing" the activation switch. It's hard to describe, but you have to almost reach your thumb over the tail cap wall, and point inwards ever so slightly to activate the switch. For momentary activation it's no problem, but to click the light on permanently takes some finesse. This is by no means a problem overall, but I figure I have to find some flaws, right? In the end, this flashlight is well worth the initial high cost. If it lasts the 13 years that my 9N did, I will consider the cost to be a steal, actually. The powerful brightness of the flashlight, the ergonomic feel, and the fact that it has an incredibly technical (almost Star Wars) like look makes this the best flashlight I've owned. This is one mean piece of equipment, and will surely last through some high abuse. A terrific carry light! I have several Surefire flashlights including the incandescent E2D Defender, the U2 Ultra, G3 and M6. This new LED model is only a little bigger than the incandescent version, but it's twice as bright, and it has a low power setting, too. It has great throw and a nice spill beam. This will be my carry light of choice.

Great Upgrade from Xenon Polystinger Where I work I have been using the standard Polystinger daily for about the last 6 years. It is a harsh industrial environment and the Polystinger is the flashlight of choice for almost all the 60 employees. Mine turned up missing one day so I decided to try the LED version as a replacement. The brightness and battery life are absolutely incredible compared to the original stinger. Light: Comparing it side by side to the Xenon polystinger, the light appears to be about 30% brighter plus it a very white light as opposed to the Xenon's yellow tint. The three levels of brightness are a nice plus - especially when you are doing close work where the full power can be too much. The light is a fixed focus with a very bright center and much dimmer surrounding cone. It cannot be adjusted from flood to spot like the Xenon version. The light is much cooler and I do not thing it will dis-color or melt the lens like the Xenon units do. Battery: I typically got about 45 minutes of on and off use from the Xenon unit. I have used the LED stinger for over 1.5 hours on the medium and bright levels without it going dead. When working in electrical cabinets I can turn it to the medium or low power level and leave it on without worrying about it dying in the middle of a job. I have yet to run the light completely dead. Construction: Very similar to the Xenon unit. The lens on the LED unit can be replaced without special tools - the Xenon require a lens extractor. The second switch at the back of the unit is a nice plus and will come in handy when the primary switch fails - I typically had to replace my switch annually when it would get too gummed up with dust to function anymore. The back switch does increase the diameter of the flashlight so if you already have a ring type holster for a stinger it may not work with this unit. I have seen Xenon stingers dropped from over 70 feet, dropped into tanks of water and oil and left outside in the weather for weeks at a time and the worst damage required a bulb, lens or switch replacement. I expect this unit to be just a durable. Super Bright The Streamlight 76810 Polystinger DS LED Flashlight is a unbelievably bright flashlight. It's also lighter in weight, than the Stinger DS LED. I've never seen a flashlight with the quality, and the intensity of light it emits. It's LED light, is a brilliant pure white light. I love this flashlight, and would recommend it to anyone who is still using an older Halogen Bulb flashlight!

Surefire G2 LED 80 lumens Black, Yellow, OD Green, Realtree Hardwood, Tan 2008
From SUREFIRE

Affordable, amazing, and VERY bright I love Surefire lights (I own almost every one) but this one might give you the most bang for your buck of the lot. It doesn't burn batteries like the incandescent lights yet it has brightness of one. The ONLY thing I wish it had was a "Click-on Lock-out Tailcap"--but that is something that I think Surefire should put on all their lights...not sell it separately. Very nice light. A+ Simply Amazing Bang for the Buck I recently purchased this flashlight for an annual camping trip. I previously had tactical LED flashlight from another company that I bought for $150 about 5 years ago, which was a very good flashlight. Unfortunately, I lost that one and was looking for a replacement. I considered purchasing a similar flashlight that I had before. However, considering how easy I lost it, I did not want to spend too much money this time around. Through some quick research, I came across the Surefire brand. My primary goal was to find the brightest LED (clean light source) light I can find that would have an acceptable max performance time. I settled on the fact that 80 lumen seemed to be the appropriate balance based on the available specs. My previous light was a machine tooled aluminum case and I really liked the solid feel of that light. After reviewing the Surefire choices, the aluminum casings were more than I wanted to spend. So, against my earlier desires, I chose the G2 LED for light specs, size (to fit in pocket), and price, despite having a "plastic" case. First off, I was way more than pleasantly surprised by the functioning of this light. In the woods in near total darkness, this light provides a solid beam that is hard to describe, but is certainly not disappointing. The view distance is much farther than you could think by looking at this light in the daytime. You can see clearly something at least 100 yards away with this light and probably farther than that since I am guessing. As noted above, I put "plastic" in quotes. When you feel this light, you do not worry about the durability, you actually begin to appreciate it. This light feels solid and of top quality. You don't worry about dropping and cracking this light. It feels that solid. Frankly, the lighter weight of the flashlight makes this probably a better choice for those who like to keep a flashlight in the pocket. My previous light was pretty heavy and could pull down sweatpants for instance. This light sat just right. There are some things that I think could be improved a little. The light has a lockout switch that you engage by turning the cap something like a half turn. You do feel it engage in that mode. What I did not like is that even in this mode, the light would flash on and it seemed that you had to be spot on to make sure it would not come on when you did not want it too. In fact, when I arrived at my trip, I realized that the flashlight was on and eventually I had very little life in that set of batteries and was forced to use my spare batteries sooner than I would like to have. I do think that Surefire should look into improving this lockout mechanism further. I also think that they should provide a carry case too. I know that the lens is made of high quality plastic, but I think people feel better knowing that it is protected in a sheath when storing in a bag with other items. I also agree with the other reviewer that a click on, click off button in the back would be more useful. I found the feel of the push button to be off a bit and I would routinely use the twist feature even for short use. Not a big deal, but something that could be better. I rate this flashlight in pure light performance a 5 star for sure considering the price. $60+ dollars seems a lot for a light, but this is not a Wal-Mart special. This is worth a few more dollars and I feel that I got my money's worth. I rate the light a 4 star due primarily to the lock out mechanism. I feel it let me down a little since I lost a full set of batteries quickly. When I locked it out before my trip began, I triple checked whether or not it was engaged by fiddling with it, hitting the cap switch etc and it still was on when I brought it out at nightfall. Fortunately I brought spares, but if did not, I would have been using the less powerful "usable" light for the trip. I would describe the "usable" light similar to a mini mag-lite, but probably a bit more bright. If you are looking for great performance at an acceptable price, I would consider this light if I was shopping again. In fact, if I ever need another flashlight, I will make Surefire my first go to brand. Great flashlight! This is a great flashlight and even better than the more expensive Surefire 6P LED model. It has the same brightness and performance yet has slightly longer run time and is lighter (hard plastic casing rather than metal in the 6P). I actually prefer the G2 because it's easier on your clothes if you like to keep the light in your pocket (the knurled grip on the metal 6P model can tear at your clothing). Furthermore, the G2 is a lot less expensive so you get more bang for your buck with it yet you get the identical performance. For super long run time and brightness for a given size, and for the price value, the Surefire G2 cannot be beat!

Life Gear: Peace of mind, Wherever you go.
Bright, but cranking duration is unimpressive This is more of a spotlight/worklight that a camping-type lantern. It DOES throw a bright light in one 'spot-like/flashlight' pattern if you keep all the LED's facing in one direction (they're movable). But even after 30 minutes of cranking (at slow-to-moderate speed), I only got approximatly 20 minutes of useable light. I'm hoping that with the AC adapter I've sent-for from LifeGear, I will get a longer light duration. (It also runs on 3 XAAA battreies). By the way, using only 1/3 of the LED's gives almost as much light as using all of them...so using only 1/3 of the LED's 'might' give a longer light duration. I'll test it once I get the AC adapter from LifeGear. There is, however, one useful purpose for which this light will comes in handy. As I said, it IS bright (for a short duration, when cranked.) But if you combine it with an item sold on Amazon...the "Stage Ninja SBL-702 Scorpion Series Sound Booth Light Holder"...and put in batteries in the Light3D, you will have an excellent 'positional' worklight for working on your car's engine at night. The Stage Ninja SBL-702 Scorpion Series Sound Booth Light Holder is made to hold D cell-width flashlights, and the LifeGear Light 3D is a 'tad' wider than a D cell flashlight diameter. But with a little effort and finess, the Stage Ninja SBL-702 Scorpion Series Sound Booth Light Holder will clamp around the LifeGear light, and allow you to project a very bright area light into any area of your engine compartment...hands free. But go easy when you squezze the Light 3D into the Stage Ninja SBL-702 Scorpion Series Sound Booth Light Holder 'clamp'...too much stretching of the clamp could crack the clamp's plastic...should it be slightly ill-formed. So, don't say I didn't warn you. In place of the Stage Ninja SBL-702 Scorpion Series Sound Booth Light Holder, you can always use the clamp arm from one of those $6-$8 metal clamp lights that Amazon sells...it it should work almost as well, but just won't be as flexible.

Amazing little torch Small size with amazing power. On the high setting I believe it puts out quite a bit more light than the typical 4D cell flashlight that we all carried for years. It does it all on one AA. On low power you get 20 hours of light about twice as bright as most keychain lights. Size wise it's about as big as a Mag AA cut it in half, then made thinner than the Mag body. This light can replace everything from the keychain light to the most powerful light owned by 90% of the population. It's far brighter than any Mag I have ever owned. It's brighter than a Surefire 6P, Surefire L4 and Streamlight Scorpion. I like it most for size and the fact I don't have to buy the expensive CR123 batteries to run it, just one AA does it.

Gerber pioneered the blood tracking light, producing the first back in 2005. Since then, we've been perfecting our Trax Technology making blood standout against the diverse backgrounds we hunters often encounter. With this in mind, we've added a third color to our unique mix of red an blue L.E.D.s. New amber L.E.D.s enable the user to disseminate things that are truly red, like blood, from things that have red in them, like leaves, certain woods. The new Game Tracker is considerably brighter than the original Gerber Carnivore and Carnivore XP. This new hand held light will help take the guesswork out of the most critical piece of your hunt.
Gerber Game Tracker Flashlight I bought this flashlight after trailing a small blood trail with a normal flashlight for two hours one night. When I had to use it several days after it arrived, I was impressed that it really did make the blood stand out with a red color and subdued the background colors well. If you believe other online reviews, the three LED colors make this the most effective Gerber product so far, but I have never seen any others in operation. I would definitely recommend it, though some might consider these type of flashlights expensive. The next step up is probably a full CSI kit and I would think that would be much more expensive. The New Gerber Model Well made and better designed than previous models. Have not had the chance to test it yet but I am optimistic that this is a more refined version of the earlier models. Easy to carry.

Ultra Bright Flashlight It has a beam that will put out close to 150 feet. However it is a very narrow beam of light. It is heavy to hold but uses two Regular "D" cells. This is a product I got for my daughter's emergency roadside kit. I do not recommend this for older people as my mother has a hard time with heavy flashlights. The batteries are what really make this light, heavy.

Finally a cute light for us girls! I love this flashlight, and I love that my husband won't steal it from me. It's really bright and really cute. The LED lights make it so the batteries don't have be replaced very often, and it's small enough to fit anywhere. All of my friends get these as gifts for Christmas and birthdays, and I always get asked when they are going to get another one. It's really fantastic.

Decent but a little on the cheaply-made side. A good light. The bright setting for the flashlight is not too bright. The lantern component of it is very good. The flashing orange is also not that bright.

Love it. Got this for xmas 07. Love it. Light is very bright and powerful for a little keychain light as opposed to the tiny led lights. It's heavier than I thought it would be because it is made of metal but I love it. It stopped working a few days later and I was baffled but I opened the battery compartment, shook them around and it worked fine. Just think it needed to "settle" a bit. been happy ever since. LED mini flashlight It's very convenient to have on your keychain. It's bright, and seems to be very durable. This is the second one I bought, so my wife can have one too. The one I've been using, I've had for two years and it works just fine. I have noticed some pitting on the LED mirror lens, but it doeesn't affect the brightness much. Inexpensive and Well Made I've had this product for a few months now. So far the LED flashlight is very bright and holds up well to abuse. It's larger than I thought--the circumference of the barrel is about the same as a dime--but it's not a problem. I just carry it loose in my purse rather than attached to my keys. Overall it's a good buy.

Brightest Light That Runs on AA Batteries The Fenix TK40 is a great tool comparable to a 10 watt search/rescue HID (high intensity discharge) light, but since it is a LED, it is brighter, more efficient, and its multiple light levels make it more functional and more applicable to different tasks. PROs: * EXTREMELY BRIGHT--> up to 630 lumens on turbo mode. However, it also has 13 lumens, 93 lumens, and 277 lumens. This allows you to compromise between brightness and battery life, and to use it for different tasks. * Runs on inexpensive AA batteries (8 of them), rather than on lithium or 123A's. It can use rechargeable batteries. * Each intensity (low, medium, high, turbo) has slow flash, fast flash, SOS, and tactical strobe abilities. * Hard aluminum body, resistant to almost any mishaps you might get this light in. * Can run on 4 AA batteries if that's all you have. * The low output is very useful, and it can run for 130 hours. * Digital regulated output will maintain the brightness stable even when the batteries are low ( will not dim as the batteries become wasted). * Has an anti-roll design. *It is waterproof (it was tested by being submerged in 2 meters of water, in which it lasted waterproof for 30 minutes). This means you can use it in the rain without fear of it being damaged). * Excellent peripheral light and great "throw." *Includes a nice carrying case, a shoulder strap, wrist lanyard, extra O-rings, and and extra rubber switch boot. Cons: * You can only use the turbo mode for no more than 15 minutes at a time (according to manufacturer recommendations). *If you use lithium batteries, you void the warranty. * Batteries are NOT included. * It takes some getting used to the cycling through the different modes. Read the instructions carefully and practice! * There is NO momentary-on switch. * The light is pretty big, bulky, and heavy once the batteries are in. It is probably out of the question to buy a holster for it and hang it from your belt. * The cartridge into which the batteries are inserted is a bit confusing to use, but fortunately the light has protection so that the LED won't be harmed if you insert the batteries wrong. * The light is VERY bright, but for some reason it still does not outperform my Pelican 7060 in terms of "throw." The 7060 is rated at only 130 lumens, so it must have something to do with the reflector. Despite its minor flaws, the PROs outweigh the CONs. The light is a bit expensive though. You would think that for $154, they would at least throw in 8 AA batteries, but they did not. So Fenix, if you are reading this, please include a complimentary set of batteries. Other than this, the light is flawless and its ray of light is amazing, you've got to check it out! Wow... Just wow... This flashlight is the brightest light I have ever used. It puts any stock Mag Light to shame, and most other flashlights out there. If you want something to light up the night, this is a great choice. What attracted me to this light was the fact that it could run on 4 AA's or 8. I didn't want to bother with special lithium batteries or the 123 cells. This light is extremely bright for a AA light, and no words can describe it, you have to see it in person. It has low, medium, high, and turbo. I find that medium is a good all-around setting and leave it on that until I need to really light things up with turbo. Overall it's an amazing light, something you need to try to believe, you won't be disappointed. Fenix TK40 If you're looking for the brightest flashlight around (and a very fun toy), this is it. I did extensive research on the what people felt was the brightest flashlight on the market. There were no reviews for this one because it's brand new, but with a lumen rating of 630, how could you get anything brighter. So I bought it and I've never regretted it. It has 4 settings and the lowest setting is about equivilant to my 4D maglight. The 2nd setting outshines my 120 lumen Dorcy. The amazing thing about the stream on the highest setting is that the light doesn't disipate with distance, as most other lights do. For example, I pointed it at a stop sign about 800 feet away and it lit it up like a christmas tree. I don't know any other flashlight that will do that. We took it camping recently and put it up against my 1M candlelight spotlight, and my suburban's high beams and it out-shown both. Amazing! Other notables, it runs off 8AA batteries, but will operate off 4AA batteries with no decrease in light. It has 4 settings, with 4 corresponding strobe functions. The batteries will die on you after about 2 hrs constantly on high, but they'll last for weeks with normal use on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd light settings. It advertises that it's completely submersible to 8 feet, but I'll never do that. It is good to know that it will most likely be perfectly fine in a rain storm though. As far as size, it is a tad big and heavy for a tactical, but I absolutely don't mind. It feels solid and unbreakable and I like that. I love this flashlight. Do I need a flashlight of this magnitude, no. Fun to play with though, absolutely. Worth the money I spent on it. . . I don't know. I suppose it depends on how much you have and are willing to spend. If you simply want the brightest AA flashlight on the market however, this is it.

INOVA T4 Lithium-Ion Rechargeable 175 Lumen LED Tactical Flashlight
From Inova

Police Reveiw of Inova T4, 2009 Series As a police officer I rely on my equipment to save my life. None of us are nice to our equipment so when a cop gives an assessment of a product, it is from a worse case/best case scenario. The following review is based on real world application in a profession that does not forgive. Emmisive Energy Corp: Inova T4. Purchased on April 11, 2009 Cost $[...] This light outperforms expectation in an urban environment. Battery life is exceptional along with the charging time. Beam is very focused. The light's strobe was found to be effective in disorienting suspects both in darkness and in semi-lit areas. Fit and finish are very good with the light being comfortable to use and work with. Pros: After being dropped on concrete from shoulder height several times over the last seven months, this light still performs flawlessly. Great shock resistance. On/off button easy to use and switch between strobe and low power. Battery life and charging time significantly better then competing companies (Surefire, Streamlight). Cons: The on/off switch sometimes will not hold the light on. I have found that you will sometimes have to keep pushing the switch to get the light off of "momentary on/off". Not to be used in contact with ANY water. Inova claims that the light is water resistant. After speaking with Dot (ext. 204) in the customer service dept. I was informed that the light would withstand momentary submergence in a puddle. Washing off a biological contaminate (blood) under the sink faucet exceeded the "water resistant" claim. Water was found inside the battery compartment and toggle switch area which caused the light to stop working. Inova offered to take the light, battery and charging cradle back. The charge would then be $39.95 for a replacement. As an update, after speaking with Laurie with Emmisive Energy Corp, they have agreed to replace the light at no cost. Laurie did state that placing the light under running water exceeded the "water resistant" capability. Shake Flashlight

These shake flashlights contain no batteries. Many new "fake shake" flashlights claim to be rechargeable when actually they use generic lithiumbatteries. These are the real deal. The waterproof case floats in water and the light is visible up to one mile.

Not a Shake Light I purchased several of these lights (15 of them) to use as a teaching tool in a university undergraduate lab. I received them yesterday, upon inspection of the flashlight I found the following: The inductive coil IS NOT connected to anything, the slug which slides back and forth is not a magnet, the rectifier (diodes) which would be necessary to charge the light (and are pictured on the packaging) are not populated on the board. The lights work solely on two small batteries, when those are done, you're done. Shake all you want. this one is fake, coil is not connected, no electronics Disassembly of the unit was very disappointing. The light is driven by the two 2032 coin cells. The coin cells are not rechargeable, they are "use once". There is nothing electronic except the LED itself. The coil is not connected to anything, this is a complete deliberate fake as far as I can tell. not worth 1 penny I got two of these from my Thank you Points reward network..same lights. The one came with a screw shaking loose inside but the real problem is that these flashlights lasted one day. They no longer hold a charge and when they did...not very bright. They are not true battery freel shake lights. You can see the 3 little button cell batteries inside..and these are what I think was giving me the little bit of light at first..Absolute junk..cheap plastic feel, switch is cheap..nothing quality about it. Came with a box with typos all over it..not address of the company. Do not wasted your time or money on this junk.

Good flashlight, but not worth the super high price The Gladius flashlight is a pretty good flashlight overall, but after seeing several new LED Maglites, LED Streamlights, Surefire Leds, and the new Pelican 7060 Led Flashlight, I have to admit that the Gladius is not THE brightest light on the market. I will list its advantages first, and then its disadvantages. Advantages: Smaller than Maglites, most Streamlights, and smaller than the Pelican 7060; Rated at 90+ Lumens, which gives it tactical use; It is lightweight, has good ergonomics; You can use the light at full power, which will last 90 minutes, or you can dim it to the lowest beam (.8 lumens), which will allow the battery to last for several days; its dimming capabilities allow you to use the necessary light for whatever task you are engaged in (i.e. you don't need 90 lumens to read a document in the dark, so you can dim the brightness down); the Gladius has a strobe mode, capable of disorienting a non-compliant or hostile individual (although the strobe mode can cause seizures on a small percentage of the population who is sensitive to flashing light patterns); the light has a lockout feature to prevent accidental activation which will drain the expensive CR123A batteries; the light is well balanced, and you can use it either mounted on a weapon, or in your hand by using several tactical flashlight techniques; the Gladius has a smart electrically regulated package that will adjust output when the light begins to overheat; it is also electrically regulated so that its brightness does not dim as the batteries get drained; the LED bulb should never burn out; and finally the flashlight will flash every fifteen seconds to alert you when the batteries are about to die. Another nice thing is that the presentation that the Gladius comes in is really nice: It comes in a hard plastic box with two Blackhawk batteries, instructions, a lanyard, and its protected in foam padding. Disadvantages: If you like a solid, heavy flashlight then the Gladius is not for you. Don't get me wrong, the Gladius can take a beating, for it was made for close quarter combat. However, it's body/barrel is not made out of aluminum and it is very light. This of course is only a matter of personal preference. If you have worked with tactical led lights such as the Pelican 7060 or the Surefire E1b "Backup" mini light, you will be somewhat disappointed at the brightness of the Gladius. The Surefire E1b is rated at 80+ lumens, whereas the Gladius is rated at 90+ lumen, and yet the Surefire is visibly brighter than the Gladius, even though it is only half of it's size. The Pelican 7060 (130 lumens) outperforms both flashlights. The Gladius might come with a holster (depending on who/where you buy it from), and the holster it comes with is Blackhawk brand, and it looks somewhat futuristic, but it is difficult to work with. Also, I am not a police officer, but I know many agencies require police officers to wear their gear on Boston Leather, or Bianchi holsters. So if you plan on getting the Gladius, and you are in law enforcement, you might as well plan on spending some extra bucks on a holster. The Gladius is not rechargeable. Putting rechargeable CR123A batteries into the Gladius (especially rechargeable batteries from Asia found on eBay), might damage the electrical circuits on the Gladius. This means you will be spending tons of money on CR123A's. This is why perhaps you would be better off getting a rechargeable light. The Pelican 7060 is brighter, its rechargeable, lightweight, and it ranges from $110 to $150, where as the Gladius has an outrageous range of $170-300. Like I said, overall it's a good flashlight, but I assume you would expect more out of a $200 flashlight. Goodluck in finding the flashlight that meets your necessities, and be safe out there! Gladius NIGHT_ops vs. Fenix PD30 I own both the Night-Ops and the Fenix PD30. No comparison - the Fenix is SO much better, and only $60. It's slightly brighter than the Gladius. But the Fenix switches to strobe at just a tap, instead of having to rotate the rear knob. The Fenix intensity is easily controlled by rotating the front bezel. Just a slight turn CCW and it's on dim. Tap and it's on medium. Rotate back CW slightly and it's on "turbo." (run time-1.5 hrs.) The Off switch on the Gladius is a joke; so fussy that I quit trying to use it. With the Fenix, a slight twist of the tail is Off. The Fenix is much smaller and the workmanship is superb. What's worrying is that it's not just Made in China. It was DESIGNED in China. American flashlight companies have much catching up to do. Yes, I have Surefires, too. The Fenix was brighter than all of mine, except the 12ZM. Now that's a real torch!

Pure gold! This product does not require very many words. It is the best flash light I have ever owned. I recommend every one buy one and keep it by their bed. If the lights go out you have the means to light up the night. If the lights go out while some one is breaking in. Then you have the means to light up the night and smack the crap out of some one. This light has a little weight to it and its metal so its doubles as a weapon of blunt force trauma and an outstanding light source. Mag-Lite Delivers Again Best. Flashlight. Ever. Mag-Lite products are great, American-made products with a craftsmanship that is to be proud of. Its strong, sturdy, and powerful. Its a great supplement to home defense. The bright, pure white LED will easily blind someone momentarily if shined in the face. The long and heavy construction can double as a baton as well. You can twist the head to focus the beam depending on what kind of beam you need for the situation. Comes with a lifetime warranty. SUPER BRIGHT!!! Great price. They're selling the same flashlight in the 2D version for $49.99. This is a steal. Great to have in the house, car, anywhere. Best flashlight, hands down. Puts a lot of light on the subject Case is lightweight with no batteries. After you put the 4 "D" cells in, it is satisfactorally heavy. Could be used as a nightstick or to fend off wild animals. The push on/off switch is rubber guarded and easy to use. Whenever you use the outer lens ring to expand the beam, it leaves a dark spot in the center where there is no light. I downgraded it one star because of this. I comes with an extra bulb that is stored in the flashlight body. I would anticipate the LED bulb will last a very long time. Be aware that department stores sell a similar model that has only a standard bulb. The LED model puts out more light with less battery drain. The light is bluish-white on the LED model.

Rayovac SEF2AA-B Sportsman Xtreme 2-Watt Focus Flashlight With Batteries
From Rayovac

Amazon Sales Rank: #77256 in Home Improvement Brand: Rayovac Model: SEF2AA-B Number of items: 1
Introducing a rugged line of high performance lights for the "Xtreme" sportsman in everyone. Superior quality at an excellent value. Rayovac combined cutting edge technology, practicality, style and value to create the amazing sportsman xtreme line of lights
A decent choice It focuses from a medium-sized bright 'spot' to a decently wide-area 'flood' (which covers the entire wall of a bedroom-size room). As for the 100 lumens, I actually have a similar private-label zoom flashlight I bought at a retailer (for about $3 less), that advertises 60 lumens, and yet it appears to be a bit brighter than the Rayovac being reviewed. [Follow-up: And for slightly more than half the price of the Rayovac, I've since found some other 2AA flashlights rated at 100 lumens that are even brighter than the 'retailer one' mentioned above...I wish I could downgrade my star rating to 3 or 4 for this Rayovac....but that's not possible on this review site.] However, the fit in your hand is very nice for this Rayovac. That one that I mentioned (above) which I bought at a national retailer needed to be wraped with black masking tape in order to feel I was getting a good grip. The fit and feel of the Rayovac being reviewed is much better. Don't get me wrong...it IS long, and not a 'compact' size like some other 2xAA's I've seen. But it's not bulky. Of course, like all new flashlights, the shape of the light (on 'spot' mode) is somewhat 'oblong' (because of the type of LED/emitter being used), but it's NOT excessively square like on another Rayovac I bought. It's more of a VERY SLIGHT oblong shape. And, for what it's worth, the color is NOT black as it appears on the web page. It's sort of a gunmetal gray.

The 'Green' Flashlight - 5 Super-Bright LED SOLAR-Charged!
From Senter

Definitely NOT a 'gimmick' flashlight - this one puts out a lot of useful light and the rechargeable batteries (included) have impressive storage and output capacity (we actually had more than the manufacturer's stated 3-hour battery life in our tests). Sleek, easy-to-hold design - can't roll away on you and includes built-in compass. 6"-length, 2" width, 1-1/2" lamp-head.

Just arrived but very happy. I aleady own a wind-up flashlight but it always seems like such a chore to wind the thing up. (recharge it's batteries) I bought a few of these for gifts and one for myself. At $10 each they seemed like a bargain if they offered up any level of brightness. I opened up the obligatory clamshell packaging and placed it sunnyside up under my desk lamp for a few hours to give it a fighting chance at having a charge. While I doubt you can damage your retina with one of these, It was very bright on my daylight acclimated eyes and should offer plenty of light to find a lost remote or whatever you need a light for at that moment. I've found that run times on flashlights are almost irrelevant for most uses, since all but the biggest projects involve less than five minutes of use at any given time. I've more often had to deal with batteries that require a recharge or a fresh wind. A daily solar top-off should meet all my most demanding needs. They seem fairly well built, but I can't say much about durability on day one. I would be surprised if it doesn't last at least a year or two, depending on battery type and how much heat it's exposed to. As an Amazon prime member it always bugs me to have to pay extra for shipping but even with that hurdle, I have no regrets at this time. Cheap Flashlight - lives up to the price I bought this for $5 or so. Pretty cheap feeling. For price though, ok I guess. Not very bright. I recommend I've owned this light for at least six months now and I love it. It is small and very easy to hold. I had it packed up in a box for a few weeks after I moved and it still worked, without sunlight all that time. In fact, I never put it by the window anymore. It gets enough light just sitting around the house, which makes it super convenient. I will truly never buy a battery powered flashlight again. The only problem is that I wish it was brighter, but even so, it is great for navigating around the house in the dark, peeking behind furniture, etc. I would highly recommend this flashlight to anyone, it is WELL worth the money- which is another plus, that I didn't have to pay much at all for it!

This is the perfect guy's flashlight. This Tactical style, 1-watt Luxeon LED produces approximately 40 lumens and runs on 3AAA batteries. With a tail cap push button switch and a wrist strap, this compact flashlight has the look and feel of an ultra high end $150 - $200 light, but at a fraction of the cost. Absolutely the best value you will find. Never need to replace the bulb.
Awesome flashlight It puts out almost as much light as one of those high-dollar tactical lights that I own, but without the expensive CR123 batteries. It produces a tight, very bright beam. The flashlight has a charcoal-grey colored matte finish on a machined aluminum tube. The tube is checkered, so it won't easily slip out of your grasp. It is powered by 3 AAA batteries which are supplied. The beam will easily reach 100+ feet. Unlike other tactical lights which have xenon bulbs, the LED bulb on this flashlight will not heat up(and burn your fingers). Because it does have an LED light source, I expect battery life to be good. The cons: polycarbonate lens could scratch easier than glass (no big deal) The button is on the end cap. I would have preferred the switch to be located where my thumb would be while holding it (again, no big deal) There is no "dim" switch mode. It puts out too much light for use as a task light, where you don't want to be blinded if you are working in a small area. (but then, it is marketed as a tactical light) Overall, the advantages far outweigh the cons if you want a very bright light source for a third of the price of the more expensive tacticals. Wow!!! Amazing Wow!!! amazing flashlight is very bright and also small!, excellent product highly recommended very practical Amazing!! This little light is only small in size. It fits in the palm of your hand. Its output is comparable to a light ten times its size. I love this light.

36-Volt litheon flashlight - has an articulating head (10-to-90-Degree) and a runtime of over 4 hours.
Super bright, long life. What can I say? Bosch makes some of the best tools. This flashlight is no exception. The 36 Volt battery makes this is an amazing flash light. It has an extremely bright light that seems to last forever. If you are in doubt as to how much life you have left, the batteries come with a built in tester. The flashlight itself did not come with batteries or a charger. (I got mine when I bought the 36V Drill) Would I buy it again? Absolutely Bright idea Great lamp - real shame Amazon forget to pack the battery in with it. Had to use my Bosch cordless spare to try the unit out. Throws a strong, golden light - this would indicate an underworked lamp so that should be a bonus. Quite powerful and runs forever before needing a charge. (Still waiting for Amazon to refund the cost of the battery and extra freight I paid though !) Happy with product. Australia

Cyclops CYC-10X Micro Clip Xenon Flashlight

CYCLOPS CYC-10X Xenon Clip Light Micro Xenon light; Adjustable spot to flood beam; Lightweight ; Includes 2 AAA batteries Xenon Clip Light
Amazon Sales Rank: #17155 in Home Improvement Color: Black Brand: Cyclops Model: CYC-10X Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 1.25" h x 5.00" w x 7.25" l, 1.20 pounds
The Cyclops Micro Clip Xenon flashlight adjusts from spot-to-flood beam. Removable hat clip is on a swivel axis to adjust to virtually any position.
Superb Construction; Non-LED Light Bulb A Downside The quality of the construction is superb. The flashlight measures a compact 3" x 1". It has a dark grey / army green color. The flashlight is mounted on the clip with a ball-and-socket joint. This gives it a very good range of movement. The light twists on or off. The very top of the light bulb housing can be twisted to adjust the light source from "spot" to "flood." Unlike a maglite, this adjustment works independently from the on-off switch. The only downside to this flashlight is it uses a bi-pin xenon lamp, not an LED light bulb. The lamp is similar to the ones used in the older model of the Mini Maglite flashlights. The light has a yellowish tint, and isn't as bright as light from an LED light source. (As an aside: the two other notable types of bulbs - the halogen and krypton light bulbs - are similar to xenon bulbs except these are filled with halogen and krypton gases, respectively.) --- The build quality is very good and the free range of movement makes this flash light an ideal clip-on light. I'm quite happy with it even though it doesn't use an LED light bulb. Definitely recommended. COMPACT FLASHLIGH NICE, THEY ARE COMPACT, BRIGHT, AND CONVENIENT. I JUST ORDERED THREE MORE FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS...

This great flashlight is probably the apex of the utility flashlight. As soon as you get it out of the box, you know that this is the last one you'll ever have to buy - I enjoy that feeling when buying a tool. The second eureka moment comes after you get all 4 D-cell batteries in and you figure out that its heft is about that of a baseball bat should you happen to live in an area with a high crime rate.

Its a gimmic - try using a white light or a dog instead1
A one star review from me is a warning to walk away.

I tried one of these at a local gun show to see how "TRAX" really works (or doesn't). I had a knife with me and donated a sample of blood drops on the ground to simulate a fresh kill from my finger. All TRAX really did was give me a paper cut feeling in the finger.

Basically the trax mode uses 4 red leds and 4 blue leds to supposedly help you find blood. If you remember back 20 years at the butcher counter the fresh meat was always lit up with purpleish fluorescent tubes to make the meat look fresher and brighter than the store's white light would. TRAX is a variation on that concept except you are supposed to use it to spot blood trails on foilage (green or tan), or dirt and it just simply doesn't work.

The red blood reflects the red led light, but so does everything else to a lesser degree. In theory the blue part would be absorbed by blood and thus make the blood brighter but it doesn't. The butcher shop tubes had special phosphors to make fresh cuts of meat look bright red in the case - this doesn't have that effect. Its white light actually works better for finding blood.

The theory does not work - instead just get a powerful white light for tracking blood. Any good bright xenon light will show red blood plain as day. Choose your light source to get a good amount of red spectrum like a normal light bulb. Cold lights like HIDs do not have much red emission to begin with and will hide blood. Any xenon light will work better than the LED gimmic.

Another alternative is to get a dog that smells a blood sample before being fed every day for training. Blood does smell (ironically like iron but it's the hemoglobin you are smelling). Soon your dog will associate the odor of fresh blood with getting fed. Next make it a walking game with a few drops of blood to the hidden food - the dog will follow the scent to the hidden dish of dog food. Dogs' brains are easily programmed to seek out a fresh kill for a food source as a survival technique so this only takes a few weeks to teach them blood=food nearby. Make sure that no blood is in the food as the object is to get the dog to follow a trail of blood to find their normal food. Bloodhounds, Shepherds, Labs, are all good mixes for this work. Blood's odor is very distinct so almost any dog will work. If you don't want to become anemic check out the local blood bank for expired donations which must be discarded - if you explain that it is being used to train a "search" dog they'll probably give you a unit if you sign a waiver and give ID.

Take your dog with you hunting and check out the garmin astro - let your dog do the work. It's faster, easier, and more accurate than colored leds. GARMIN 010-00596-01 Astro Bundle 220 Dog Tracking GPS

Blood Tracking Does Not Work2
I have to agree with the other reviewer. I've used this flashlight for the past two hunting seasons, but have only had to use it once to track wounded game after sunset. The blood tracker light really is a big gimmick, because it just doesn't make the blood stand out at you. The color red stands out in EVERYTHING that you shine the LED's on, including dry brush and grass. It was easier to spot my blood trail with the white light. When I switched to the LED setting and held it directly over blood, I thought to myself, "Huh! So that's what blood looks like under this thing?" I give it two stars because it actually works well as a regular flashlight. The blood tracking feature doesn't really work, and turns a decent flashlight into one that is just overpriced.

Actually bought this for my son for Christmas. He's an avid hunter. It looks awesome! I'm sure he'll be very pleased with it. Great value!

Proton Pro is made from aircraft quality aluminum with type III anodizing, o-ring seals, and a hardened glass lens. This ensures that the Proton Pro flashlight is ready for your next adventure. This is a GREAT light.

I use a flashlight daily in my job. I crawl in attics regularly. I first saw this light in Alaska in a store priced at 50.00. It was a bit steep, but after looking at it several times, I decided to buy it for myself. I like the ability to use a single AA Lithium battery instead of the more expensive and harder to find CR123 batteries. Standard AA batteries are fine in a pinch (caution, only about 2 hours of full power use).

I carry this light daily and I have found no other light like it. It is small enough to cary daily, no matter how lightly you dress. I use the Energizer AA Lithium battery in it. I get about 20 hours of use at full power, I seldom use low power. The red light is helpful going into a tree stand early when deer hunting.

I lost my original and thankfully my children got me one for my birthday. I decided to buy a second one just in case (I expect to locate my original one eventually).

When price, size, battery availability, durability, batery life and brightness are considered there are no peers for this light. Buy with cofidence and enjoy it.

Great Flashlight For The Keychain4
I bought this flashlight because I needed one for everyday carry (EDC). I needed a compact, but powerful, flashlight that used AA batteries. The need for AA eliminated the majority of the keychain-type flashlights while the "powerful" attribute knocked out the incandescent Maglites. They simply don't have the same brightness as a power-regulated LED.

This light is great! It might be considered a little long for a keychain light, but if you wear your keychain on a belt loop, it is no problem at all. It comes with a removable belt clip, which I removed. The only downside to removing the belt clip is that the flashlight will then roll. The belt clip stops the flashlight from rolling.

Okay, onto the part you really care about: POWER! The flashlight is very powerful. It is definitely more powerful than my current Inova keychain light. The controls are much better and way more intuitive than the Fenix lights that I own, too. No tapping the button to make power level changes. The red light is also very easy to activate, by holding down the power button instead of clicking it.

Overall, I was very impressed with this light. In fact, my fiancee ended up putting it on her keychain. In a purse, the extra length doesn't matter. It's no longer than the mascara or lip gloss. I will have to order a second one for myself.

Buy This Light5
If you want to know what can be done at a "reasonable" price & with cheap batteries using the best of LED technology and computerized circuitry, buy this light. If you couldn't care less about any of that stuff, buy it anyway.

For years I packed a big 3 D-cell Mag Light around with me. (In other words, I kept one in the car). The big Mags were great in their time and got the whole high-tech flashlight scene going. Plus they could double - in a pinch - as a very serviceable club (well known in military and law enforcement applications). Before continuing, be aware that the Photon Pro makes a very poor club. There is no comparison to the Mag Lights in this regard.

But the narrow beam of light that this little wonder casts - with one LED and one AA battery - is brighter. And the Photon Pro is tiny enough that you can literally ALWAYS have it with you (on your person).

Also its internal circuitry is quite intelligent. The light's single switch allows you to set either the red or white LED at whatever brightness level you want. Or your can select from four different flash modes, including a disco style strobe or even an SOS signal.

Last but not least, it runs on cheap, buy-anywhere AA batteries (I use a rechargeable Li-On in mine) and makes very intelligent use of the available current. Instead of gradually dimming out on you, like most lights, the Photon Pro stays bright until your battery power is just about exhausted. Then it gives you a red halo or corona around the main white beam, announcing that it is time to swap out the battery.

Starting out with a freshly charged Li-0n I have camped for as long as 5 days without having to change the battery (though I always have spares along). My night vision is pretty good for an old guy and I am not afraid of the dark, (meaning that I do not always burn it at full intensity). Even so, this seems like pretty good battery life.

Like I said - buy this light.
